Microsoft’s Surface Go brings a more affordable and more portable tablet experience to everyone. Like any other 10-inch tablet, the Go is prone to drops and scratches, and even though it’s the cheapest Surface yet, you’ll no doubt want to protect it. Here are the best cases available so far for the Surface Go.
Protect your Go with a case that’s rugged enough to meet MIL-STD-810G drop-test standards, so you won’t have to worry about taking it with you into the field. An aluminum stand on the back keeps it propped up, there’s a dedicated Surface Pen holder, and it’s available in three different colors.
This UAG case meets the same drop-test standards as the Metropolis, but it also has a built-in kickstand. It also gives you the option to carry your Go over the shoulder or securely in your hand thanks to a couple of adjustable straps. A Surface Pen holder ensures the little accessory doesn’t go missing, and it’s fully compatible with the Go Type Cover.
This case is made from PU leather and is available in three basic colors, giving it a simple look that nevertheless goes with the premium design of your Go. You keep all functionality of ports and cameras, and though the Go’s kickstand is covered, you can still use it to prop up the tablet. If you like the idea of a folio look when closed, definitely check this one out.
This folio case is made up of black PU leather with brown accents, with visible stitching around all seams for an executive look. It has a built-in Surface Pen holder, a pocket on the back is big enough for some documents or a charging cable, and though the kickstand is covered, it can still be used to prop up the tablet.
This folio case completely covers your Surface Go with synthetic leather and available in one of 13 designs. Proper cutouts ensure you don’t lose any ports or cameras, and the Go’s kickstand is still able to function almost to its full potential. On the side is a Surface Pen holder to keep it near you when not in use.
MoKo’s rugged case leaves the Go’s built-in kickstand completely free, allowing you to get the exact angle you want while also keeping the tablet protected from drops. It’s compatible with a Type Cover connected, and on the back of the case is a hand strap that ensures you don’t drop the Go while you’re working on the move.
Youtec’s case tries to show off as much of the Go as possible while still offering relatively rugged drop protection thanks to padded corners and a clear cover for the back and kickstand. You’ll still get up to 150 degrees of motion when you want to prop up the tablet, there’s a Surface Pen holder built into the side, and it’s available in four different colors.
Kensington’s BlackBelt 2nd Degree meets MIL-STD-810G testing and also leaves the Go’s kickstand free to rotate as it should. It has a raised bezel around the front to keep the screen from getting hit, a silicone hand strap on the back lets you easily carry it around, and the Surface Pen holder has a tether to keep it from dropping into whatever you’re standing in.
If we’re making a suggestion
Those heading out into the field with their Surface Go under arm will no doubt want to use a truly rugged case, and we’ve had nothing but success using UAG’s Metropolis. You might lose function of the built-in Go kickstand, but the overall protection provided really is invaluable.
