This week’s Battlefield V announcement confirmed that EA and DICE are headed back to World War II with the next entry in the franchise. But if that reveal has you psyched to return to the fight between Axis and Allies, then you can now hit up one of the series’ earlier entries, Battlefield 1943, as part of the Xbox backward compatibility program.
Battlefield 1943 was released in 2009 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The title lets players fight as either part of the U.S. Marine Corps or the Japanese Imperial Navy across maps spread through the Pacific theater. This was a multiplayer-only release, complete with the vehicles and player classes that Battlefield is known for. At launch, the game reviewed well, averaging a Metacritic score of 83 for the Xbox 360 release.
