EA is pushing forward with its yearly release schedule for the Madden franchise as expected. The publisher announced today that Madden NFL 19 will be available for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on August 10, and is up for preorder now. And because this is EA, there are plenty of preorder goodies to pick up, depending on which edition you choose.
But first thing’s first: the cover star for this year’s Madden Hall of Fame Edition is Terrell Owens, a nod to his induction to the 2018 Hall of Fame. A different, yet to be announced athlete, will be on the standard edition when it arrives on August 10.
As for new features, EA is mostly iterating this year. The publisher says players can expect a new “Real Motion” animation system. “players will experience more precision as they run, cut, catch and celebrate on the gridiron this season,” EA says.
New franchise tools are also being introduced in Madden NFL 19, including positional archetypes and the return of custom draft classes. That’s in addition to new training tools for Ultimate Team and a new single-player experience called MUT Solo Battles, which lets Ultimate Team players to compete against one another on a leaderboard to see who has the best skills.
If you preorder the standard edition, EA is throwing in an elite player of your choosing, along with five gold team fantasy packs. Those who preorder the Hall of Fame Edition will pick up the standard edition bonuses, along with one of five elite hall of fame legends in Ultimate Team, one training pack, and seven more gold team fantasy packs. Hall of Fame Edition buyers will also get early access to the game starting on August 7.
Madden NFL 19 is up for preorder now on Xbox One, at a cost of $59.99 for the standard edition or $79.99 for the Hall of Fame Edition. EA Access subscribers can save 10 percent on the preorders.
